Venom and Sinister Six Movies Announced

Last night Sony announced via ElectroArrives.com that they will be expanding the spiderman cinematic universe with movies based on Venom and the Sinister Six. These will be in addition to next summer’s The Amazing Spider-man 2 and the already announced third and fourth installments in the series.

They will be orchestrated by the writing team of Marc Webb, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard in collaboration with producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. This team will be treated as a franchise brain trust.

There are lots of possibilities for these as there have been numerous iterations of these characters over the years. Members of the Sinister Six have included the likes of Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman, Vulture, Electro and there have been many other members over the years. Notable versions of Venom include the Eddie Brock Venom who’s origin includes the black suit Spider-man story that was attempted in Spider-man 3. Flash Thompson has also been Venom. His character uses the same symbiotie, but is more of a special agent type of character.

It seems like every studio now has an Avengers-like cinematic universe in the works. Just last week Bryon Singer announced X-Men: Apocalypse and Wonder Woman was added to the Batman vs. Superman movie. They’re even working on connecting the Fantastic Four and X-Men universes. Hopefully all of this just raises the bar for the movies we all love so much. Let us know in the comments if you’re excited about this news.
